Why OLBRAND is not a headshot studio?

If you need a headshot, you have hundreds of options in Amsterdam.
Fast turnaround.
Good lighting.
Professional results.
OLBRAND is not one of those options.
We're not a headshot studio. We're a strategic visual identity business.
Here's what that actually means and who it's for.
Headshot studios start with the camera
The typical flow looks like this:
Book a session.
Show up.
Get professionally lit and posed.
Pick your favorite from the gallery.
Done.
Fast, efficient, technically solid.
The problem? There's no strategic layer.
You're guessing at what works. The photographer is executing a formula.
You end up with a good photo of an unclear position.
The image is fine. It's just not connected to anything.
Most professional photos end up looking like passport pictures for exactly this reason - technically correct but strategically empty.
OLBRAND starts with positioning
Our flow is different:
Positioning conversation: Who are you becoming? What's the gap between your ambition and your current presence? What do people need to see when they land on your profile?
Research phase: We analyze your industry, your competitors, your audience's expectations. What visual cues signal authority in your space? What's everyone else doing that you need to avoid?
Creative direction: Every wardrobe choice, location, and lighting decision supports the strategy. Nothing is guessed. Everything is deliberate.
Photoshoot execution: We're not exploring. We're executing a defined concept.
The photography is the output. The strategy is the work. This is why strategy comes first - without it, you're just hoping the photos work.
Who this is for
If you just need a LinkedIn profile photo updated, go to a headshot studio. They're faster and cheaper.
OLBRAND is for professionals in transition:
Founders who've scaled past the startup phase and need to project authority, not hustle.
Executives stepping into bigger roles where presence matters as much as competence.
Consultants repositioning from mid-market to enterprise and need their visual identity to reflect that shift.
Coaches who've outgrown their old brand and need photos that match their current authority.
People who know their external presence doesn't match their internal ambition and want to close that gap with intention, not guesswork.
If that's you, here's what actually happens during a personal branding shoot.

Why we don't compete on price
Headshot studios charge for time and images.
OLBRAND charges for strategic clarity.
The photography is part of the deliverable, but the real value is the positioning work that happens before the camera turns on.
That's why we don't discount.
The price reflects the strategic work, not just the photoshoot.
If someone is pushing back on price, it usually means they're comparing us to a headshot studio. We're not that.
And once the positioning is clear, the value becomes obvious.
Here's the complete OLBRAND process: Clarity, Concept, Camera. Three phases. No shortcuts.

What you need to do before booking
Most people show up hoping the photographer will "figure it out." Don't do that.
Do the work before the shoot.
Here's what to do before a personal branding shoot so the photos actually work - the brief, the positioning, the creative direction.
The decision
You don't need OLBRAND if you need a quick LinkedIn update.
You need OLBRAND if:
Your photos don't match who you're becoming
You're repositioning and need your visual presence to reflect it
You've tried the headshot-studio route and ended up with generic results
You know there's a gap between your ambition and how you're currently seen
If that describes you, let's talk.
Strategy first. Photoshoot second.FAQ
How is OLBRAND different from a headshot studio?
Headshot studios start with the camera. OLBRAND starts with positioning. We do the strategic work before the photoshoot to ensure your images actually support your goals.
How long does the process take?
From first conversation to final delivery: 2-3 weeks. The positioning session happens first, then creative direction, then the photoshoot. We don't rush it.
Do you offer packages or just custom projects?
We offer both. See our services for details, or contact us to discuss a custom approach.
I'm not sure if I need this level of photography. How do I know?
If you're asking whether your photos are working, they probably aren't. Read this guide on what people notice first in your personal brand - it might help clarify whether you need a quick update or strategic repositioning.
Can I just book a photoshoot without the strategy session?
No. The strategy session is what makes the photography work. Without it, we're just another headshot studio and we're not that.
